GIFT OF THE NILE- ANCIENT EGYPT / PYRAMID

Ancient Egyptians considered the sky as the goddess Nut, who arched her body with both hands pressing against the ground and whose head and two legs respectively symbolized the end of the western and the eastern horizon. When the evening came, she swallowed the sun ruthlessly. Overcoming numerous difficulties and obstacles in her body, the sun finally escaped and got a newborn. When the first ray of sunshine illuminated the dark ground from Akhet (the horizon), a new day began.

On both sides of the Nile, the mother river of Egypt, plants grew in the fertile soil. The peasants supported the economic lifeline of the whole country through their hard work while senior officials lived a luxury and dissipated life under the shade of garden trees. The quietly standing pyramids convey Pharaohs' hope for immortality, and the stone pillars of temples contain the 5,000-year history of this ancient country. The solar calendar tells extraordinary wisdom and the hieroglyphic has left behind the legend of ages. …… From desolation to prosperity, from ignorance to civilization, from simple lines to complex patterns, from frugal grave mounds to lofty palaces, ancient Egyptians invented countless miracles from which a great civilization has been produced.
We have selected nearly 230 precious cultural relics from the Egyptian Museum in Turin to show the Chinese audience a mysterious country seen through the "eyes" of the "Egyptian Museum". It is hoped that the exhibition will build a bridge that spans time and space between the ancient Nile civilization and the Chinese civilization with thousands of years of history. The exhibition is not expected to tell a complete description of Egyptian civilization. Rather, it aims to portray a microcosm of the magical land and provide a new vision for observing the local conditions and customs.
